Making a rubber mold from a clay and wax original. One step in the process of lost wax bronze casting. Creating a sculpture in traditional media is divided into a multitude of tasks.
Each a part of the process leading to creating a finished bronze influences the whole work because the artisanal parts force you to think in different ways about the artistic parts, and open up in the work new insights.
Casone D’Arte is my studio showroom in Tuscany, a space dedicated to sculpture, experience, and creation.
Exclusively by appointment.

A beautiful fresh lost wax bronze casting by @fonderia_artisticalarte in Pietrasanta, of the two faces from the bronze edition in progress “L’Anima Athena,” 2025.
Next the tubes (gates and sprews) will be cut off and the bronze polished to its natural golden hue.
Creating bronze sculpture is a long and rewarding journey, where the artist and the artwork grow along the way, through an artisanal process of becoming.

Sculpture in Bronze Edition by Romolo Del Deo
One of the two faces from the work in progress “L’Anima Athena,” 2025 in the process of lost wax casting into bronze at the @fonderia_artisticalarte in Pietrasanta. The white wax tubes will become the gateways for the molten metal once the wax is covered with ceramic refractory material and fired.
Looking forward to bring this large and complex project, “Beyond the Wall” to completion next year. It seeks to bridge time and cultural references to unite us in an understanding how we are interconnected in our humanity and our history. The first installation is planned for the main piazza of the city of Camaiore. The first monumental artwork installation of its kind there. If you would like to learn more, or join in supporting the project, we welcome hearing from you.
